The firm’s Toronto office sits in Etobicoke, in what is routinely described as the most multiculturally diverse city in the world, and that shapes how the practice runs day to day. Clients arrive from communities across the region, often dealing with an injury or a dismissal in a second or third language while managing a legal process nobody explains to them. Meeting that properly is the firm’s most consistent community commitment.

In practice that means legal services delivered in multiple languages by the lawyers and staff themselves, and interpreters arranged where the firm does not speak a client’s language. It is a small thing to describe and a significant one for a client trying to explain a medical history accurately.

How the firm gives back

The firm’s community work runs along two lines. The visible one is cultural. Zayouna sponsors Arabic cultural events across the Greater Toronto Area throughout the year, the largest of them Taste of the Middle East, the Toronto Arabic Festival that takes over Nathan Phillips Square each summer.

The quieter one is about access. The most useful thing a law firm can do for the people around it is remove the things that stop them getting legal help at all — and in this region those are consistently the same three: language, cost, and not knowing where to begin.

Language is the barrier the firm addresses most directly, because it is the one that most often changes an outcome.

Contingency fees deal with the second. Personal injury and long term disability clients pay nothing up front and nothing at all unless the claim succeeds, which means the decision to get advice does not depend on having money available at the exact moment you have least of it.

The free consultation deals with the third. It exists so that someone can find out whether they have a claim — and be told honestly when they do not — without that conversation costing them anything they cannot spare.

Serving clients in their own language

The firm’s lawyers and staff speak nine languages between them, and clients are matched with someone they can speak to directly rather than through a third party. Where the firm does not speak a client’s language, it arranges an interpreter.

In an injury or disability claim this is not a courtesy. A client has to describe symptoms, treatment history and daily limitations precisely, and the accuracy of that description becomes the evidence. Getting it slightly wrong in a second language can cost a claim.

Supporting Arabic cultural events

Zayouna sponsors Arabic cultural events across the GTA throughout the year. The largest is Taste of the Middle East, the Toronto Arabic Festival held each summer at Nathan Phillips Square — a free, three-day celebration of Arab food, music, art and performance, and one of the biggest events of its kind in Canada. It drew more than 75,000 people in 2025.

Much of the firm’s client base comes from these communities. Being present at the events that matter to them, rather than only at the moment something has gone wrong, is the same relationship in a different setting.

Monthly community draws

Every month the firm runs a draw through its social channels, tied to events happening across the GTA. They are deliberately small and local — a steady presence around the ordinary things happening every month, not just the headline ones.
