Lawyer - Personal Injury
Zayouna Law Firm is actively looking for a new Associate with strong legal skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to take responsibility for many aspects within the field of personal injury law.
Job Responsibilities:
- Knowledgeable in the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS), be able to complete various insurance forms and handle Accident Benefits claims from inception to settlement
- Must be able to draft and/or review pleadings, Affidavit of Documents, motion records, Notices of Appeal, statements of issues and settlement conference memorandum;
- Must be comfortable attending examinations for discovery, case conferences, mandatory mediations, motions, appeals, mediations/arbitrations at LAT etc.
- Required to draft mediation memorandums and pre-trial conference memorandums and settling claims
- Proficient in completing settlement proposals and negotiating settlements
- Responsible for all client files of which you are assigned carriage
- Required to meet with clients throughout the file lifecycle: initial new client meetings, prepare them for examination for discovery, mediations, settlement of offers and as required , to provide legal advise and take instructions
Qualifications:
- Called to the Ontario Bar
- Licence in good standing with the LSO
- 2 years of previous personal injury practice experience
- Superior communication, writing and verbal skills
- Highly proficient time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
- Excellent negotiation skills
